Review: Mandy, a Christmas cracker with no snap rating

The problem with looking forward to something special for Christmas is that if Santa doesn’t deliver it then the feeling of disappointment is visited ten -fold. So the disappointment when Mandy failed to deliver last night was palpable.

A Very Mandy Christmas, a parody of Charles Dickens’, A Christmas Carol, written by, and starring, the very talented Diane Morgan, was tired, clichéd and simply not very funny. Not even Jo Hartley as young Mandy’s mum or Michelle Greenidge as Lola or the guest appearances of Johnny Vegas, Pearce Quigley and John Cooper Clarke, as Christmas past, present and Christmas yet to come could breathe sufficient life into this dull production.

This review is short which mercifully so was this episode (even though it was one minute longer than normal) The new series of Mandy starts on Jan 5th. Here’s hoping that both Morgan and Mandy are back on their normal excellent form.
