Pivoting’: L-R: Maggie Q, Ginnifer Goodwin, Eliza Coupephoto: Joe Viles/Fox
Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Maggie Q star in ‘Pivoting’ the single camera comedy that has been picked up by Fox. As three women coming to terms with the death of their childhood best friend they are faced with the reality that life is short. In desperate attempts to find happiness, they make a series of impulsive, ill-advised and self-indulgent decisions, strengthening their bond proving it’s never too late to screw up your life.
The cast also includes Tommy Dewey, JT Neal and Marcello Julian Reyes.
The project, written and executive produced by Liz Astrof, was originally ordered to pilot at Fox in 2020 but production was delayed due to the pandemic. Astrof’s past credits include shows like ‘The King of Queens,’ ‘2 Broke Girls’ and ‘The Conners.’ Alongside Astrof, Kapital’s Kaplan and Dana Honor. Tristram Shapeero was director/executive producer on the pilot.
The order comes on the same time that Fox confirmed a Season 2 pickup for its multi-cam comedy ‘Call Me Kat’ starring Mayim Bialik.
Last week, the network ordered the drama ‘The Cleaning Lady’ starring Elodie Yung and the county music drama ‘Monarch.’ Other pickups include the dramedy series ‘The Big Leap,’ an animated comedy set in ancient Greece from Dan Harmon, the drama ‘Our Kind of People’ from Karin Gist and Lee Daniels, and the mockumentary series ‘This County.’
The pickup of ‘Pivoting’ comes just three weeks after Kapital received a series order for another comedy pilot, Shining Vale at Starz, written by Liz’s brother, Jeff Astrof, from a story he wrote with Sharon Horgan.
