Which US comedies, not already renewed this year, are likely to be renewed in 2021?
Good question. After speaking with industry sources and analysing ratings data, Variety have predicted the likely fate of some scripted series that are under review:
“Call Me Kat” could be in peril despite an initial commitment from Fox. It has not achieved the anticipated ratings.
Hot property, Dwayne Johnson, should be safe with ‘Young Rock’ on NBC but low ratings will probably see the demise of ‘Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist’
At CBS Chuck Lorre’s credentials are highly bankable so it should be reasonable to assume that both “B Positive” and “United States of Al,” will get renewed renewals.
On the comedy front at ABC, “Black-ish” and “The Conners” seem pretty secure for renewals, while “The Goldbergs” is a little more of a question mark. Much depends on audience reaction and loyalty to the show after the death of George Segal who played ‘Pops Solomon.
