No Panto but Sheila Hancock is a Dame

In a career spanning six decades Sheila Hancock, now Dame Sheila Hancock, has performed in numerous comedy roles as well as dramatic roles. In 1961 her comedy career began when she was in the cast of the popular TV series The Rag Trade. Since then Sheila Hancock has performed alongside such comedy talent as the Carry On gang, Tommy Cooper Beryl Reid and most recently Catherine Tate. She starred in Brighton Belles, a British remake of Golden Girls which was not anglicised enough and didn’t get a second series and the comedy drama Delicious alongside Dawn French.
