Could Gavin and Stacey return to our screens?
James Corden has neither confirmed nor denied that there will be another Gavin and Stacey special so could Gavin and Stacey return to our screens? In an interview with Metro, James was clear to emphasise that there were no plans to do another show but left the door slightly ajar by saying that if there was, it would definitely be the last.
Most watched TV show of the decade
The 2019 Christmas special was the most watched show of the decade with 11.6 million viewers, so there is sure to be pressure on Corden and Ruth Jones to write another. In an interview earlier last month Ruth Jones again reiterated that there were no plans in the pipeline citing the difficulty of her living in Wales and James being in America.
No doubt the superb cast would jump at the chance to reprise their roles and repeat the tremendous success of the series which ended on an unresolved cliff-hanger. Other commitments, particularly those of Jones and Corden, may not provide the opportunity to repeat the success but if they can find the time there is no doubt whatsoever that another 12 million viewers will find the time to watch it.
Gavin and Stacey radio Christmas special
Several of them are reuniting on BBC Radio Wales this Christmas. Joanna Page (Stacey West) and Mathew Horne (Gavin Shipman), the eponymous couple, around which the show is focussed, are reuniting for a festive special and inviting listeners to spend Christmas day with them on BBC Radio Wales. Other contributory cast members are Alison Steadman (Pam Shipman), Larry Lamb (Mick Shipman), Melanie Walters (Gwen West), Steffan Rhodri (Dave Coaches) and Robert Wilfort (Jason West).
