Felicity Huffman and “The Peanut Butter Falcon” star Zack Gottsagen are attached to lead a comedy at ABC that has landed a pilot production commitment.
The as yet untitled comedy stars Huffman as the unlikely owner of a minor league baseball team. After the unexpected loss of her husband she inherits his beloved team, and finds herself having to navigate through the situation with the ‘help’ of her dysfunctional family including her oldest son, a baseball devotee with Down’s Syndrome, and the Sacramento community.. The project is inspired by Susan Savage, the real-life owner of the Triple A World Champion River Cats.
Becky Hartman Edwards writes and executive produces the pilot, with Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor of Kapital Entertainment executive producing with Joel Zadak of Artists First and Susan Savage. Huffman will executive produce along with starring, with Gottsagen producing. ABC Signature will produce.
Hoffman previously starred on the network’s hit dramedy “Desperate Housewives” as well as the critically-acclaimed ABC shows “American Crime” and “Sports Night.” She won an Emmy for her time on “Desperate Housewives” and won a Golden Globe for the film “Transamerica.” Her recent credits include “When They See Us” and the Epix series “Get Shorty.”
