Review: Marvelous Mrs Maisel Season 4 will be well worth waiting for if the first three seasons are anything to go by.
If you already subscribe to Amazon Prime you should by now be up to-date with the superb comedy drama The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. If you’re subscribing for the first time this Christmas then this highly acclaimed award-winning series is worth a month’s fee alone.
The filming of the fourth season was delayed by Covid-19 and is now due to recommence in January but could, unfortunately, be further delayed by the escalating pandemic in the US. Rachel Brosnahan whose performance won her a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy is champing at the bit to continue her outstanding portrayal of Miriam (Midge) Maisel .
Set in 1958 New York, Midge Maisel’s life is going as planned– husband, kids, and lavish entertaining in their Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes a sudden surprise turn, she has to adjust to a whole new life style – and going from housewife to stand-up comic is an inexplicable choice to everyone but her. Urged on by her inexperienced manager Susie Myerson, brilliantly portrayed by Alex Borstein, we see Midge’s mental turmoil in pitting her ambition against the needs of family and friends. Her improvised stand-up routines are based on her life and events surrounding it but her candour is not always well thought through nor well received. There are plenty of laugh out-loud moments between the two women in particular even though most of them are littered with frequent profanities.

Despite the authentic potty mouth language this phenomenal series has won 3 Golden Globes, over 70 other awards, including Emmys and more than 140 nominations in almost every category possible for the exceptional cast, writers and everyone involved in the production.
Some critics have expressed the opinion that Season 2 was not up to the standard of the other two but we believe the high standard has been maintained throughout.
Can’t wait to review Marvelous Mrs Maisel Season 4 because the first three have indeed been marvelous..
